Citrus Tung Oil Blend

Our blend of Tung Oil and Citrus Terpentine is impressive! It's pure without any additives, ensuring a high-quality finish for woodworking projects or household wooden pieces. Tung Oil is well-regarded for its ability to dry hard, enhance wood grain, and provide waterproofing properties, along with a semi-gloss finish when properly prepared.

1. Preparation of Workpiece: Ensure the wood surface is well-prepared, either by sharp hand plane finishing or using fine sandpaper, hand or powered (around 400 grit). This preparation helps achieve a smooth and even application of the oil.
2. Application Method:
   • Pour a small amount of the Tung Oil and Citrus Terpentine blend onto a clean rag.
   • Apply the oil onto the workpiece using the rag, ensuring even coverage.
   • Reapply oil to any dry spots as needed during application.
3. Drying and Wiping Off Excess:
   • After applying the oil, allow it to sit on the wood for about 15 -30 minutes, longer in cooler weather.
   • Use the same rag to wipe off any excess oil from the surface of the wood.
4. Recoating:
   • The workpiece can be recoated with another layer of oil after approximately 2 hours.
   • It's recommended to apply 3 to 5 coats for optimal finish and protection.
5. Storage of Rag:
   • To safely store the rag saturated with oil, keep it in a glass jar with a screw lid. This prevents the risk of spontaneous combustion, which can occur if the rag is left rolled up.

These instructions not only ensure a beautiful finish but also emphasize safety in handling the oil-saturated rag. The blend's ability to soak into the wood more easily and reduce recoating time is particularly advantageous for woodworking projects, making the process more efficient while maintaining high-quality results.
